Tip: The Advantages of using  POP Rivets

POP rivets can be used where access at the back of the work piece is restricted or not accessible. This feature of the POP rivet alone makes their use a must in many applications. Their many advantages make POP rivets the best choice in applications where the POP installed rivet is not of primary importance, such as:

  • POP Rivets conform to IFI 114 Specifications
  • Low installation costs (POP Rivet vs. Bolts)
  • Faster assembly than a regular nut and bolt
  • Low in place cost (Reduce Cost of Labor)
  • Lightweight portable tools
  • POP Rivets are Vibration-proof
  • POP Rivets will not scratch surfaces
  • Versatile designs, many POP Rivet families
  • High fastening thickness range
  • POP Rivets have high clamping strengths
  • POP Rivets are Tamperproof
  • POP offers design flexibility

Blind POP Rivets
POP Rivets are 2 piece assemblies consisting of the POP rivet body and the accompanying setting mandrel, and are capable of being set from the front side of the application, access to the back side or blind side is not necessary. POP Rivet uniqueness means fastening with limited to access to one side of the structure. Current POP rivet applications have expanded to many additional areas of fastening to decrease labor expense and to address the ergonomic issues of solid riveting and nuts and bolts.

How POP Rivets Work

The POP rivet body is inserted in a hole in the materials to be joined.
The tool is actuated and the jaws of the power-operated or manual or power POP® rivet tools hold the mandrel of the rivet.
The POP rivet is set by pulling the mandrel head into the rivet body, expanding it, and forming a strong, tight, reliable joint on the back side of the application (forming the secondary clamp). At a predetermined setting force, the mandrel breaks leaving a tightly fastened joint.
